5 reasons people are keeping a pack by the back door

You get bitten at home too. Most people only think about repellent the week before they fly.

1. British midges are relentless, and the bites are no kinder for being British

The garden after work. Walking the dog at half seven. Sat outside on the one warm evening.

You're not on holiday, so you're missing repellent and by the time you notice, you've got four on one ankle and you're scratching them for a week.

2. The repellent you own is in the wrong place

It's in the suitcase, or the bathroom cabinet from last August, half used. Nobody sprays themselves to sit in their own garden for twenty minutes.

A pack by the back door changes that. Grab one on the way out, tie it on, forget it. No timer, no reapplication, nothing to remember.

3. One wrist, one ankle and it's the ankle that matters at home

Long grass, sitting still, bare feet in the evening. Midges go for ankles and calves.

Nearly everyone who tells us these worked was wearing two. One wrist, one opposite ankle. It's the single biggest difference between the people who rate these and the people who don't.

Pestects bands are my trusted favourites. I was sceptical about using them 3 years ago. They are brilliant. I have never been bitten by any insects while wearing the bracelets.

I wear one on my wrist and one on my ankle when I’m in a place renowned for mosquitoes. Other times, I just have one on an ankle, like at home in the summer. I never take them off. I just replace a band after a number of weeks. I have used them twice in Florida, Vietnam Dominican Republic, Turkey and other places in Europe. No bites. Brilliant.

4. Wear it, seal it, wear it again

Left out in the open, any scented bracelet fades within days. Ours don't get left out, the clock only runs while a bracelet is out of the packet.

Wear a pair for the weekend, seal them back in the pack, and the days they haven't used are still there waiting. Up to 10 days of wear each, and unopened the pack keeps for up to two years.

Which is why most people end up with one pack in the drawer and one in the suitcase.

5. It isn't only mosquitoes

Midges, sandflies, horseflies, wasps around the bins in August. The things that make a British garden less pleasant than it should be from April onwards.

Two things we'd rather tell you now

They tie one-handed once you know the trick. Tie loose, slide on, pull tight. Or use the stretchy bands, which just slip on.

They're strongest in the first few days out of the pack. Which is why we say rotate rather than wear one until it fades.

Wear them. If they don't work for you, you get your money back.

45 days. Opened packs fine.

Loved by thousands of insect magnets

Glad I got these

"Excellent product, the bracelets come in various colours so my son and husband usually choose the darker colours, my daughter and I the brighter. We’ve been Mexico, Tenerife and turkey and these bands have never let us down. My daughter has had leukemia and undergone a bone marrow transplant so we are always extremely worried about bites with her but these bands have given us much more peace of mind. She wears one on her wrist and one on her ankle and has been great every time. Please don’t hesitate- get them NOW!"

"I have just come back from Borneo and despite being right in the jungle 1hr 45mins over the open sea in a speedboat despite lots of insects, I didnt get bitten once and everytime insects were around they moved away from me. I wore a bracelet on wrist and ankle. A great product that really works."

Insects love me!

"Insects love me. My husband rarely gets bitten whereas I get covered /eaten alive in bites. Purchased these (now on second pack) & was amazed they actually worked. Made a huge mistake this week of gardening without wearing one (normally wear 24/7!) & now have loads of bites😑 which at least served as a reminder to write a review for this company."
